I think The Bailey Company misrepresented the condition & maintenance history of the machine they sold us. The spark plug thing might speak to their level of competence.
For 24 months, the machine performed well. Our business is low volume, with the lift being used about once a week to unload 1-4 pallets. It was stored in the heated warehouse. We've filled the LPG tank twice.
The Bailey Company is the closest distributor of parts for the lift manufacturer. While my mechanic was ordering a new pump, a Bailey Company mechanic told him that this was a common issue with these models as factory coolant was extremely corrosive. He said the lifts from that era should always have their factory coolant flushed and replaced.
About a month ago, it started leaking fluid onto the warehouse floor. Our industrial complex has a mechanic in the next building and I asked him to take a look. The fluid was coolant. The engine's coolant was extremely and low and had a viscous consistency. He found every metal fitting in the cooling system to be extremely corroded, the water pump was shot, the head gasket was leaking a small amount, and the installed spark plugs were only intended for use in a gasoline engine (the lift is LPG).
I purchased a used LPG-powered forklift from The Bailey Company approximately 24 months ago, it was an ~9 year old lease unit. The salesman reported that The Bailey Company had purchased it new and serviced it regularly per their agreement with the lessee since. The cluster reported the operating hours at less than 7000. After purchase, they again serviced the unit and delivered it.
Look elsewhere.
